Portrait: Annie McGinty by Jeff Tse

Annie McGinty by Jeff Tse

I've been thinking a lot about adding more glamour shots to my portfolio. I'm not sure when I'll have the time, but I have something exciting coming up soon that I'd need to get it all done by. It's fun to think about all the things I could do if I had the resources, but I think figuring out how to make it work with what I have is half the fun. :)

Cover Wars: Masha Kirsanova by Cate Underwood for L’Officiel Ukraine November 2011

Yes, yes, a thousand times yes.
It's like, slutty pirate nurse-nun.
I have no idea, but I like it.

Model of the Moment: Michelene Auguste

via models1
Trinidadian model Michelene Auguste by Joseph Sinclair

"In 2005 Michelene began her initial fashion model training at Coco Velvet International Model Training Academy in Matura, Trinidad; her training continued at the CVI 2008 Workshop in Port-of-Spain. While attending the workshop she was scouted by a representative of IMG Model Management New York at Caribbean Fashionweek in Jamaica and…well let’s just say the rest is history." -Coco Velvet International Fashion & Model Management

Michelene has an enormously promising future ahead and I can't wait to see her catapulted into the international markets as the next model to watch. Check out more of her work after the jump. The Caribbean fashion industry is slowly gaining its footing, and it is the hard work of talented locals like Michelene (and of course newest PR winner Anya Ayoung-Chee) that is helping to put us at the forefront of the fashion stage.

Cover Wars: Numéro #128 November 2011 | Aline Weber by Camilla Akrans

Aline Weber by Camilla Akrans

A bonus cover for today. Numéro continues to have some of the most consistently amazing covers ever. I mean, they're gorgeous. I'm pretty sure a heavy percentage of the covers I've featured for Cover Wars are from Numéro. STUNNING. That is all.

Cover Wars: Playing Fashion November 2011 | Jana Knauerova by Jason Kim

Every time I do this feature it amazes me that I never used to put stock in the importance of a magazine cover. In the back of my mind I knew it was important and it made a difference, but the reasons weren't in the forefront of my mind.

Looking at this, it's so easy to see why so much time goes into choosing a cover image. How could you not look twice at this on a newsstand? From the razor blade necklace to the juxtaposed colours of the gloves and the sweater; it's perfection. Let's not even speak of Jana's amazing hair....

It's perfect. It makes you want to look twice. It's arresting and interesting and it draws you in. Everything a cover photo should do. Gorgeous.
